Count Your Blessings

My LSS has started putting together kits, and then this month they are giving away a $25 gift card to the person whose kit project wins the design team's vote. This is the kit for the month.

It has papers that aren't shown in blue and reddish, but I didn't end up using those. Green is my favorite color so I pulled out the pieces that appealed to me. :) Below is my submission.

I painted the chipboard flower with an Adirondack Paint Dabber in pearl (looks like silver to me!), and then sanded it a bit, and layered it with one of my new Primas, and added a Basic Grey brad. The MR birdie was part of the kit. I painted the entire thing with a white Adirondack Paint Dabber, and then inked over the body with a creamy brown cat's eye, and sanded the edges of the wing to make it a bit gray. The branch was painted with Vintage Photo Crackle Paint by TH. The paper is Daisy D's and I think the scalloped paper is Creative Imaginations, but that is just a guess. The Blessings chipboard is MR, and I painted it with silver Stickles, and then inked it with a brown Cat's Eye. I think the ribbon is from Sherri's personal stash so we'll have to assume the brand is Sherri Bo Berry.

Behind the cover is an accordion album given to me by my friend Sandie all the way over in Ireland. I bet she will laugh that it has taken me this long to get around to using it. I listed some thoughts on the blessings in my life on each page. I keep it tied up in the back with the large ribbon hanging off the sides so my two-year old can't peel off the butterflies or buttons. ;)

I think it turned out really very pretty. Thought I'd also throw in a pic of the rascally yet beautiful two-year old.

Happy Crafting to you all. Dee2

Summer Days

Time for a new family update:

I will tell you before-hand that it has been a difficult month for my family, and if you are down right now please give yourself a break and read this later.

My Dad is being sent back to Iraq. I wish the days of war were behind us, and yet I know they are ever-increasing. My prayers seem so small against the tides of hatred and injustice.

My oldest brother is in jail. I don't want to go into the details of that situation except to say that my heart breaks for his family.

Michael is job-hunting again. The summer program he has been working for doesn't have as many enrolled now compared to the beginning of the summer so there just aren't enough hours to fill his time. Please pray something comes through this week. He has put applications in several places the last two days.

If you've seen him recently you know he has let his hair grow out into the shaggy beach look. At first he was too busy to get it cut, but now there is suspicion that he is doing it to drive his poor wife crazy. ;)

Sofie continues to be plagued by hives and itching. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer in that area. Please pray for her healing.

Let's see, she has also developed a great love for band-aids and medicine. I can only guess she is interested in how much attention she gets from us and our exaggerated responses to her cutting her foot etc. If anyone would like to become her colored band-aid supplier please let me know as she is trying to break the bank.

In other news, we are house-hunting. Our toddler's active lifestyle has become a burden to our (extremely annoying and loud) downstairs neighbors. She needs a yard to run wild in.

Trying to keep a two-year old from making noise is stressful and unfair. We have put an offer in on a house in the Lancaster/Red Oak area that Michael really likes. Please pray for us.

Mocha is of course dreading a switch in houses, as most cats would. She makes herself ill every time we move even if it is only a five minute drive. I keep in mind that we need a house with many warm sunny spots, and just the right amount of creepy crawly creatures coming in every once in a while.

As for me, I don't know where to start. I live in the land between not-enough-sleep and chronically sick. It shares a border with no free-time and always broke. lol What can I say? We need prayer all around. ;)

Here are some pictures of my rascal.

This was our day at the beach a.k.a. the porch, a beach ball, and a Sonic slushie. :)

This is after we played in the mirror. She changed her outfit several times, and let me tie her hair up. Aren't those sunglasses cute?

This is her fluttering around with wings after finally learning how to say butterfly. She's so beautiful and clever.

We love you all. We keep you in our prayers. Dee2

Branching Out

I recently made a 12x12 double layout to go on eBay. I don't normally work with this size, but it was fun to mix it up for a day. It did make me want to go back to scrapping more of my personal pictures, but I just don't have much time right now. (Sigh.) Isn't summer supposed to slow us all down? Shouldn't we all be more rested, walking around in flip-flops, and sipping snow cones?

As an ode to my busyness, I have created a this double layout for the busiest bee of the summer: a bride. May she find rest from her complicated schedule. :)

I hope you all like this, and enjoy some rest of your own these last days before the school year starts hopping again. Dee2

Family Tree

I made myself a really nice family album recently (still needs some finishing touches), and decided to make another when I was inspired by these gorgeous vintage inspired papers at TCS.

I used a little crackle paint on the tree (thanks Sherri), and finally broke out my BG files to do some sanding and distressing.

Don't you love the vintage doll house? :) These pictures don't show dimension very well, but the part that says bonds is actually popped chipboard, and the checkered strip is made to attach tags or pictures to.

I love this black frilly black ribbon. I worry every time I use some because it will be gone soon. :(

These next two pages turned out so sweet with all butterflies and hydrangea.

The piece that says memories is a big metal snap, and the butterfly is attached to the paper clip. It turned out so pretty I made a bookmark for myself just like it.

I added this antique bronze frame, and the vintage fabric photo is from crafty secrets. (Love their stamps!)

Hope you like! It is up on eBay if you'd like to see the rest of the pics or bid. :)

Summer! :)

I've been so busy scrapping and have lots to share! :) Here is a cute beach ball album I made a couple of weeks ago using Imaginisce.

It just makes me want to wear flipflops and eat popsicles. If only it wasn't so hot here in TX!
Here are some more pictures of the Disney Vacation Album. :)

More to share soon! Thanks for stopping by. DeeDee

There has been some harrassment about my lack of blogging. :) To stave off the attacks I have a quick post for you.

I haven't had much time to scrap since my last post, but I did make this Disney Vacation album. I stumbled across the paper one day in The Crafty Scrapper. The paper has lots of detail, and the colors are so rich. I am going to make myself something with this paper too as I have tons of Disney picks after living near Orlando for two years. I will get this up on etsy or eBay soon. Hope you like! I have to get back to the madness that has been my week.
