GASC

I was so honored, nervous, and excited to be asked by my friend Sherri, to make something for display at the Great American Scrapbook Convention.

I was given one of these:With this inside:

Here's my take on it -

The cut around the acrylic cut-out was driving me nuts. I had to cut it 4 times. Love the pearls from Glitz design.

I papered and painted the inside of the case too. :) The paper is Graphic45 and the paint is an Adirondack Paint Dabber in Metallic Pearl. I thought the mix of metallic and vintage was interesting.
As you probably know, I love layering. I am trying to get better at layering embellishments in with the paper. What would you call this look? Vintage, grungy, shabby? I'm not really sure.
I decided the album would focus on Sofie's birth. So here is me at 39 week preggo, and so very uncomfortable. Isn't she the cutest little bump? I took some gems from Glitz and cut them up to make a circle around her house. The rub-on in the corner is from Maya Road.
I used Thickers to title each set of pages.
This turned out to be my favorite set of pages. My hubby gave me the words for the journaling. Isn't it sweet? :)
First I used all pictures that weren't good enough shots to be used on big layouts. Then I decided to sand them down since some of them had been "aged" by my two year old looking through them. :) On the "aware" page, I pulled back the side to expose that I had painted the pages with metallic paint.
Don't you love the big yawn? This picture is out of focus, but I knew I wanted to use it somehow. The last page is the day we brought her home. I wanted to add a journaling tag behind the photo, but I put the glue on the wrong side. (Picture me rolling my eyes.) So I will re-glue it, and add the tag once I get it back from the convention.
Oh, and I machine stitched the lines on this paper so it would have a kind of quilted look. There was a moment when I was ready to throw the machine because it randomly started putting the stitches on the underside of the paper. Any idea what that is about? I really need to take a sewing class.
Thanks Sherri for giving me the project and the chance to work with all the fun supplies. :) Hope you all like.

Lunchbox Scrapbook Tin

Check another half-finished project off my list. :) This is the baby girl scrapbook tin I designed with papers and fibers from Basic Grey's sugared collection.

I really like how the front turned out. I broke out of my shell using the fibers that coordinated with the pack.

I painted the Maya Road chipboard flowers and layered them with Primas. The centers are punched from one of the Sugared papers, and the beads are from the Basic grey Sultry collection. Can't remember where the brackets are from. Didn't it turn out nice though? All the chipboard is iced with Martha Stewart glitter for subtle bling.

A peek inside the album. The inside top is embellished with baby pink Primas and gems. It just looks so soft. A peek of the backs of the cards.
This tag is opened up below.

I think it turned out pretty cute. Thanks for stopping by. Happy scrapping!

Baby Shower Scrapbook Gift

This is one of my favorite album shapes Maya Road tabbed calendar album as it is perfect for being on display. I've combined it here with my favorite MME papers and embellishments to make a one year baby album for a little girl. Such a sweet baby shower gift idea. I painted the Maya Road scroll cranberry and glazed it with Martha Stewart glitter.
The paper on the photo matte is my favorite. I just want to wall-paper my daughter's room with it.

I just adore this paper. I have now ordered it 4 times!

Or maybe someone will have it at the GASC that is coming to town in a couple of weeks! That would be nice. I went last year, but I had only been scrapping for a month or so. I had no idea what to buy. This year I'll have to leave the credit cards behind! :)
If you're interested in having the album for your very own, let me know. :) I am all out of the paper for now.
Happy Scrapping. :)

Pregancy Paper Bag Album

This is the album I have been working on for a friend late at night all week. It's a fun album that stands up so I am hoping it will soon be on a baby's dresser. :)

I was going for bright spring colors, and a fun vibe. I went crazy with my Prima flower stash. I couldn't resist the fuzzy pink arrow! I love this vibrant ribbon too.

By the time I was done, I was pleased with the results. It is stuffed full of journaling prompts and all sorts of pregnancy tokens.I'm so thankful to have friends who are supportive of my creative endeavor. :)

Happy scrapping! DeeDee

Something Old, Something New

I wasn't sure what I should do about all the lost pictures and posts. I decided trying to recreate them was too much work. My computer is on its last leg, and my patience usually is too. ;)

It's probably best to just move on from here. :) Here are a couple projects that I have out on the scrap table.

I started working on this Sugared Baby Girl tin before I got a couple of custom orders. I played with my Maya Road scrolls and flowers and the Adirondack paint dabbers. They are fun, but the tops get mucky. I can't wait to finish all the inserts. The ones I've already done are so feminine and sweet!

I am working on a half-dozen pregnancy albums right now! First someone requested I create one with a blonde on the cover instead of the brunette I used last time. lol I had to find just the right paper so it didn't look like a dye job. ;)

This next is one of my favorite pieces I've created. The thickness and texture of the MME papers are so rich.

It was 18 pages of purple and green perfection. :)  I have re-ordered that paper 3 times because people keep asking for it. I am even working on somethng for Sofie with it as she now loves purple. Still sad that she has abandoned pink.

Well, I hope this has been a fun kick-off to restart my blog. I will update the links and set-up as I grow in patience. Send me your links! :)

Happy scrapping!  DeeDee

A Series of Unfortunate Events

I lost my blog today. It was in a fatal clicking accident. All of my beautiful posts, all of your thoughtful comments - gone in the blink of an eye.

I am starting over regretfully.

I want it to be a cheerful new beginning. I just don't feel that way yet. So today is sad, but tomorrow I will post something bright and happy for you. :) For me too.
