October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer  Awareness Month, and PFOP will be hosting PINK auctions with a portion of the proceeds going to help Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Please be sure to check out our auctions October 4th-10th to support the cause. :)

This is a pregnancy paper bag album I started last year before I had HG. I am slowly working my way through those lingering projects my craft room was abuzz with. :) It was kind of hard to finish something a year later as I kept thinking I'd do some things differently, but I like it. :)

This reminds me I need to finish my own pregnancy journal. Mine is BLUE (and a little sad) though. I might even get around to posting it one day.

This will go up on eBay tonight if anyone is interested. :) Happy Scrapping! Dee2

Surrounded by Love - A Day of Crafts

Like most of you, I am so glad the weekend is here. On a good week I get to spend Friday nights at The Crafty Scrapper with good friends and beautiful inspiring products to play with, but it's a long haul to get to those Friday nights. This week has been full of doctor's appointments, bills, errands, bad news phone calls, diaper changes, temper tantrums, mountains of laundry, and the little things that just drain at my energy.

In light of the long week I took the morning off to just do crafts with my little girl. We've colored, traced, painted, glued, cut, and SMOOSHED things to our hearts content. I only wish I had some glitter so I could introduce her to the wonder. :) Here is one of our projects.

It's hard for me not to be push too much during these moments. I look for theme, pattern, and balance. She enjoys the process. She wants to get her hands sticky. She wants to see if the markers will dye her skin. She wants to taste and see that project is good. I hope we'll rub off on one another.

Here is an album I put together earlier this week.
It was originally going to be my contribution to PFOP's Breast Cancer Awareness Auctions (October 4th-10th), but I decided to go a different direction. The cover reads "Our Family is Surrounded by Love."

A little space for some journaling. This flittering butterfly was passed along to me on a thank-you card. I thought she was pretty enough to keep on charming.

I really love the colors of this Basic Grey paper. I think it's called Indian Summer? Someone will have to yea or nay that for me.

Love these delicate fuzzy blooms sprouting out.

"Govern a family as you would cook a small fish - very gently." The pink leaf on the bottom is a rub-on from the collection I layered onto the Prima packaging from the flowers. I was feeling particularly scrappy that point. ;)

Can you see the little tag that reads strength? That has been a prayer of mine this week. That God would strengthen the weak places in my family tree. Some of my extended family is going through a really tough time, and could use the prayer.

Maybe someone could slip a sweet photo behind the vellum sheet into the pocket.

Love this velvet ribbon. There's a sweet balance in the dark color and the soft texture.

Can you tell the clouds kept moving as I was taking pictures? That and the three-year old was stepping in and out of the light. This album will go up on eBay later tonight if you're interested.

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by. I've enjoyed all the sweet comments lately, and would love to say hello back. :) Feel free to leave your email address if you don't have a blog I can click back on.

First Day of Autumn

Today is the first official day of Autumn. My spirit is so ready for the changing of the season. Like the leaves from the trees, there are some things I need to let go of. There are some things I need to see in a different light.

These are our current family pets. Frank, Fido, and Sofie the pumpkins. Frank is the one that looks like Frankenstein.

Last night I couldn't sleep for all the steroids that I am on so I got out these supplies.

I sat next to the family pumpkins, and let them inspire me. :)

This is an acrylic album using Pink Paislee's Twilight papers. Not sure who makes that striped ribbon, but YUM!

I think this sweet velvet ribbon is Maya Road.

Couldn't decide if the wacky eyeball center was out of place, but it made me chuckle.

I hope you like the album, and that this new season brings new perspective and focus. Happy scrapping to you all. Dee2

"Of All the Rights of Women...

The Greatest is to be a Mother." Lin Yutang This album came out nothing like I expected. I think I said that the last time I used Sassafras Lass papers. Will have to remember that next time. ;) A few hi-lights of my favorite pages.

Don't you love the blinged-out bloom? It's so soft and feminine.

I have been trying to figure out a way to use that die-cut sheet and the Prima packaging for months and this is what I came up with. I was disappointed to see a friend of mine had done the same thing, and managed to show off her work before me just earlier this week! Haha. Guess the early bird gets the worm. :)

Love how the paper layering turned out here. I think it's a hint of my own personal style that creeps into my eBay albums. :) See the little pearls added to the paper? I spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out just how I wanted them. I get so lost in the smallest details.

My favorite thing about SL papers are these funky edges. Wish I had a close-up of the fuzzy pink flower. It is uber-sweet.

One of the papers had all these sweet images that were itching to be cut-out. I think they could be collaged into something sweet if any of you would like my scraps from it. :)

I am so loving all the new Primas to be found at The Crafty Scrapper. They are running out! I hope Carolyn orders more so I don't have to hunt them down online. STOP BUYING MY FLOWERS PEOPLE! ;)

Found this adhesive felt I had been seeing pop up on people's projects. I couldn't quite get it to look as soft as I wanted so I trimmed it down and layered it with some sweet blooms.

Here's another of the images from the collage sheet. I was thinking someone could use it to jot down some journaling, or perhaps their mother's name. So sweet with the big bloom.

This is the back of the album. I did some more layering, and tried to keep the bulkiness to a minimum so nothing would come off. If you want to see more pics or just want it check it out on eBay HERE.

Thanks for looking, and happy scrapping! :) Dee2

Family Night September 6th and a family update

Our last two family nights have been spent outside at Getzandener park in Waxahachie. There are several sets of playground equipment for Sofie to play on, and a beautiful walking trail. My favorite part of going is the forest full of fireflies that come out at dusk. Sofie and M like to chase them, and catch them in their hands. One is more gentle than the other so about 50% of the fireflies survive catching..

A few pics of us on our way out the door.

Sofie has a sturdy kids camera, and she LOVES seeing her pics uploaded onto the computer. More on that later.
Me and my boy. :)
Don't you love the t-shirts?
M in a great mood for family night. Yay!
The next two pics were taken by Sofie. :)
2 tress in our front yard.
She kept telling me to "SMILE BIGGER MOMMA."

A little update:
M's students have been fantastic so far this year. I will have him put up a post about that soon. This is a direct answer to prayer.

He is also looking into getting a part time job to pay down the vast medical bills. Ugh. Blah. Ick. Please pray the right opportunity comes along, or that we find a child I could take in a few days during the week.

Sofie has been so difficult lately. Every day has been a test of wills. I'd say we have a battle nearly twice an hour every hour she is awake. She is pulling every trick in the book to exert control over each member of the family. I don't know how she will ever submit her will to God when she battles so fiercely against the slightest earthly authority. I am going to bed each night completely worn out from standing up to her. I have begun to wonder if I have what it takes to win. Please please pray for us.

Andrew is a sweet blessing to our family. He is soft smiles and big wet kisses. He is mostly sleeping so much better at night, but still having daily bouts of fussiness.

Thank you all for your prayers concerning my health. For those of you that don't know I have been diagnosed with Churg-Strauss Syndrome by both my immunologist and ENT. This was both a blessing and a blow to my emotional health. I am relieved to finally have some answers about the constant sickness, but I am also deeply disappointed that it is something far more serious than I had ever imagined.

So far my treatment mainly involves a 4 month course of high-dose Prednisone, weekly labs, exercise, and a drastic diet change. At the end of the 4 months I'll be evaluated to see if the Prednisone has put the syndrome into remission, and if not we will begin to talk about whether I need to add Chemo to the treatment regimen.

After being on steroids for 3 weeks my lab results showed that my glucose levels were reaching a pre-diabetic range. The immunologist is concerned this could lead to full blown diabetes.

Specific prayer requests: financing treatment as I don't have health insurance, that the CSS would go into remission before the 4 month mark, and that I would adjust quickly to cooking a new diet.

Thanks for all the prayers and concern. We love you all.

Our Family Roots

This is one of the many albums that has been patiently waiting in my stash of papers. It's a combo of Sassafras Lass and Pink Paislee papers. I wanted it to have a sort of modern feel. It didn't come out exactly like I had in my head, but I still think it's pretty cute. :) Here are a few of the pages.
It's supposed to read: Our Family Roots, Tree, and Memories. The cover is definitely my favorite page. Must be all the green.
I decided to do lots of pockets so pics and scraps could just be slid into the album no fuss.
I like how simple this page looks. Yum. After this, the pages are in n particular order as blogger was having issues. (Sigh.)
I thought this vellum quote page looked really nice layered with some of the Sassafras papers.
A little K and Co. sneaking in. :) More layering with the Sassafras and some BLING. :)

I think the back cover might still need a little something. I hesitate to put anything on it because it's always the first place something falls off or gets scratched. Maybe just needs some rub-ons or a signature. What do you think?
This will be going up on eBay tonight. If you're interested in seeing the full album click HERE
Anyway, one down 14 to go! :) Happy Scrapping to you all. Dee2
